Newly Permanent: Milani Rose Powder Blush in Romantic Rose

In 2013, Milani released their limited edition Rose Powder Blushes, which instantly became a hit in the beauty community. For the first time, there was a blush in the drugstore that was just as visually appealing as some higher end brands (anyone see a bit of Chanel in this?) Well the blushes were such a hit that Milani decided to re-release the blushes again for 2014 and, in 2015, they became permanent to the Milani line. Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

While I have seen these blushes hanging around the drugstore before, I'm so skeptical about drugstore blushes that I never picked them up. Well recently, the Walgreens down the block from me received the new Spring 2015 beauty launches (finally) and I could not take my eyes off of these beauties. Now the other shades that my store carried were completely shattered, so I was only able to pick up the Romantic Rose shade, but hopefully this will give you an idea on the quality, texture and finish of these blushes.

The Milani Rose Powder Blushes retail for $7.99 and contain 17 grams of product. That is about triple the typical 5-6 grams of product you get in most blushes, so you definitely are getting bang for your buck. And I mean come on! That embossed detailing is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

But how does the product perform?

Um...hello, pigmentation! I guess I shouldn't be surprised considering Milani is known for their amazing blushes. This particular shade in Romantic Rose is a medium dusty rose shade that has very buildable pigmentation. I find that this is a spot-on dupe for Nars Douceur Blush and, dare I say, even more pigmented. So if you've been wanting to try that Nars blush, but can't quite allow yourself to cough up the money, this one from Milani is a great alternative. I do have to say that the talc in the blush is pretty apparent, making it very drying, so I would not recommend this blush to anyone with dry patches around their cheeks.

Bottom line: Not only is this a gorgeous blush, it is an amazing product. I'm actually interested in the brighter shades as those might be more up my alley.

  1. Hey! Would you be able to swatch this blush alongside NARS Douceur? They've discontinued it and I want to see a comparison before buying the Milani one!

    2. I would love to see that swatch comparison! Only learnt about the apparent amazingness that is Nars Douceur today, and I'm so bummed that it's discontinued.
